Funke Shobanjo is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of FBNQuest Merchant Bank. She drives business growth and operational excellence across the firm, with a portfolio that includes Strategy and Transformation, Enterprise Digitisation, Operations, Marketing, and Corporate Communications.

Funke’s journey in Financial Services spans over 20 years, a testament to her deep-rooted expertise.  She embarked on her career as a Graduate trainee at Goldman Sachs, London. Almost a decade later, she left the firm, having ascended to the position of Executive Director. She then transitioned to Traiana, ICAP, where she led the STP programme for FX trade flows. Her journey continued at Bloomberg, LP London, where she served as the Africa Exchange Business Manager.

Funke holds an MSc in Finance, Economics, and Econometrics from CASS Business School in London and a B.Soc.Sci. in Economics from the University of Birmingham in the UK. She received a Merit award for the Investment Administration Qualification from the UK Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Funke holds a Certificate in Strategic Capabilities for Emerging Business Leaders from the Kellogg School of Management. She is completing the Accelerated Development Programme at the London Business School.
