Market wrap 22/01/2021

The Nigeria equities market closed on a negative note as the ASI (-0.24%) dipped marginally to settle at 41,001.99 points. Weakness in MRS (-9.86%), Wapco (-6.98%), UBA (-2.79%), Access(-1.08%), ETI (-0.76%), and Dangsugar (-0.49%) among others accounted  for the day’s performance . On the flipside, Flourmill (+1.27%), UACN (+0.61%),UBN (+1.83%), Ucap (+1.11%), Guaranty (+0.30%), Zenithbank (+0.19%) and Zenithbank (+0.57%) all advanced.

Market turnover was N5.07bln ($13.24mln) buoyed by domestic interest in Mtnn, as well as mixed interest trades in Guaranty and Zenithbank . Ytd performance moderated to +1.82%. We expect the market to maintain a similar trading pattern in the coming session
