Omobola Johnson is a Non-Executive Director of FBNQuest Merchant Bank and a former Honourable Minister of Communication Technology in Nigeria. She is also the founder and a member of the Board of Trustees of Women in Management and Business (WIMBIZ); a non-governmental organization that promotes the success of female entrepreneurs and the participation of women in senior roles in corporate organisations.
Omobola has a 25-year consultancy career with Accenture, a multinational management advisory company she joined in 1985; five of those years she served as Country Managing Director for the firm and has over the span of her career, worked with major companies across diverse industries, contributing to their growth and productivity. She is a valued member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Africa, as well as the United Nations Development Programme’s closed high-level Broadband Commission Working Group on Gender, which promotes women empowerment and digital inclusion. She also works with the International Telecommunication Union’s m-Powering Development Advisory Board overseeing the inclusion of mobile technology to all strata of society, especially in underserved areas.
Omobola earned a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester, an M.Sc. in Digital Electronics from King’s College, London, and a PhD in Business Administration from Cranfield University’s School of Management.
